Mary Queen of Angels is honored to have the caregiver of the year for Leading Age Tennesse working with our residents. Barbara Murthy was honored with this prestigious award in July 2019. Barbara began working at Mary, Queen of Angels when the building opened in 2001. She has been a dedicated employee, a role model and a valued trainer for new employees for the last 18 years. She is a true jewel in the crown of Mary, Queen of Angels. Barabara is an example of the outstanding caregivers and staff working at Mary, Queen of Angels.
Our Dining Team was awarded the honor of "Innovator of the Year" at the 2017 LeadingAge Tennessee Annual Conferance held in Franklin, TN. LeadingAge Tennessee is an association of communities and professionals providing quality housing, healthcare, and related services for the elderly. Leading Age recongized our Dining Services team for their improved expanded menu with the successful adaptation of the streamline ordering system, "TOAST." The new program
"A Touch of Excellence in Dining" utilizes electronic ordering for the resturant style menu provided. Orders are wireless sent to kitchen for streamlined response times and increased ability to order specific items to meet the residents desires. Music is important for a better life as we age. As a MUSIC & MEMORY℠ certified facility, we help our residents who suffer from a wide range of cognitive and physical challenges to find renewed meaning and connection in their lives through the gift of personalized music. Volunteers, family caregivers and staff professionals have learned how to create and provide personalized playlists using iPods and related digital audio systems that enable those struggling with Alzheimer’s, dementia and other cognitive and physical challenges to reconnect with the world through music-triggered memories. During the 2015 Annual Conferance, Mary Queen of Angels was award the associations award for INNOVATOR of the year for their "Celebrate Life Program". This program is designed to help residents contribute and be involved in everyday life. Components of the program include: The Hour of Power, Block Parties, Neighbohood Competitions and Welcome Home Ambassabor Program.
